Île-de-France Mobilités makes dynamic data available in the PRIM data catalog in the form of an API. The 6 APIs distributed today on PRIM can be divided into two main categories according to the source of the data:

  • The APIs of the Île-de-France Mobilités platform which are fed by the Real-Time Passenger Information (IVTR) relay
  • The Ile-de-France Mobilités Calculator APIs based on Navitia technology

Navitia is the multimodal and real-time passenger information system that feeds the data disseminated on Île-de-France Mobilités' media (the Île-de-France Mobilités mobile application, the "Me Mobilités" website, etc.).

For the sake of uniformity and completeness of the data made available to reusers, the Navitia APIs (Ile-de-France Mobilités Calculator - Generic access, Ile-de-France Mobilités - Isochrones Calculator and Ile-de-France Mobilités Calculator - Traffic Info Messages) exposed on PRIM are now based on the same coverage as that used for the Île-de-France Mobilités media, instead of the "FR-IDF" coverage, which is scheduled to be decommissioned at the end of February 2024.

The benefits of the new coverage for Navitia APIs

This change in coverage brings the following benefits to the Navitia APIs:

  • It has some evolutions already developed by the Navitia technology and not present on the current fr-idf coverage, namely:

- Where to position yourself at the level of metro trains to optimize your connections in stations and station exits

- Real-time updates of timetables, deletions and additions of trips for journeys using RER and Train lines.

  • It features the enhancements of the new route search engine, with more relevant, richer route results and improved performance.
  • It will also have access to the developments planned for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

What's changing in Navitia API call URLs?

An important element to take into account is that the new coverage will no longer be visible in the URLs of call requests to the 3 Navitia APIs of the PRIM platform, as is the case today with the fr-idf coverage. An example on the Generic Navitia API in pictures:

A double step has been set up to facilitate the switch to the new coverage

The 3 Navitia APIs will be available and broadcast on PRIM with the two coverages: the old fr-idf coverage and the new coverage, during a transition period from mid-January to the end of February. The purpose of this period is to allow reusers to take ownership of the operation and content of the new Navitia URLs.

At the end of February, all APIs based on fr-idf coverage will be decommissioned and can no longer be queried, in favor of new URLs.

Support by email via the address: [email protected] and on the PRIM Community Slack will be set up at each stage of the switchover for all reusers.
